It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, and what better place to have this week’s happy hour than your own living room, featuring your newly styled bar cart? Bar carts are becoming the must-have statement pieces to complement any entertainment space or bedroom. Let your bottles, bar tools and glassware do the decorating for you. This is your chance to buy that pretty pink bottle of bubbly you’ve been eyeing. Accents can be adjusted to suit any season or occasion. Build your perfect bar cart in six easy steps. Here’s how:

1. Select your bar cart.

From repurposed bookcases to vintage bar carts, the possibilities are endless when choosing your base.

2. Select your alcohol.

Cater to all of your guests’ tastes by displaying vodka, gin, rum, tequila, whiskey and vermouth. To accommodate your guests who like to drink on the lighter side, have a bottle of red wine, a bottle of white wine, a bottle of bubbly and beer on hand.

3. Select your bar tools.

Your bar tools can be key decorative pieces displayed on your bar cart. Be sure to include an ice bucket, corkscrew, bar spoon, strainer, shaker, muddler and jigger.

4. Select your glassware.

Various types of glassware can include red-wine glasses, white-wine glasses, Champagne flutes, shot glasses, pint glasses, martini glasses and short cocktail glasses.

5. Select your mixers and garnishes.

To meet all your cocktail needs, have various mixers on hand, such as tonic water, club soda, olive juice, orange juice, cranberry juice and sodas. Also, supply garnishes to complement your cocktails, including lemons, limes, oranges, mint and olives.

6. Select your accents.

Incorporate your personality and style through your accent pieces, whether it’s decorative straws and napkins, or odds and ends, such as a cocktail-recipe book or seasonal flowers.
