Internships
austinwoman offers marketing, editorial & design internships for the spring, fall, and summer. Interns typically work 12-15 hours per week, including one networking event each month for marketing interns.
- Marketing Internship
We look for marketing interns with an interest in the publishing and magazine industries. Interns will assist with planning and hosting our monthly networking events, build confidence speaking with clients, and learn how to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Must be outgoing, energetic, trustworthy, reliable, willing to learn and grow, take initiative, be creative, and generally on the ball! - Editorial Internship
Editorial interns must be eager, driven and independent. They perform a variety of tasks, including copyediting, layout proofing, compiling and editing the Calendar and Contributors pages and occasionally writing articles. They also learn to review and respond to pitches from writers and keep the database on articles and contributors up-to-date. Be prepared to gain valuable, hands-on experience! - Design Internship
The successful candidate for this internship will be creative, driven, and resourceful. He or she will be required to perform a diverse set of tasks, including, but not limited to, design research, print and web design production, advertising design for local and national clients, project management, photography work, and various administrative tasks.
We are very serious about our design interns gaining as much portfolio and real world experience as possible. No coffee/donut runs here!
We require two semesters of undergraduate study, a serious interest in graphic design, professional and positive attitude toward work, creative and resourceful mind, some familiarity with Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign), Web programming experience is a plus, but is not required.

Freelancing
austinwoman welcomes the submissions of freelance writers and photographers to the magazine. If you would like to pitch an original idea, please send a brief query to editor@austinwomanmagazine.com. Your email should include a three-to-four sentence description of the story and the section – health, beauty, education, etc.—that you feel it falls under. However, please note that we do not accept unsolicited copy. All copy submissions must be first approved, confirmed and assigned by the executive editor. Deadlines for assigned copy and artwork are the first of the month prior to the issue date (i.e. January 1 for February’s issue, and so on).
