Leader, Legislator, Educator, Wife, Mother, Grandmother … Inspiration!
Wilhelmina Delco, a mother, grandmother and outspoken public servant, will turn 80 this summer. From her first run for public office in 1968 just after the death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. until her retirement from the State House of Representatives in 1995, she dedicated 27 years of public service to equality in education and the people of Texas. Delco became known as an inspiring speaker with an eloquent voice and an unflappable sense of humor.
